Bron Breakker’s Possible Career Outside the Ring

Bron Breakker has made a huge impact since he joined WWE. The son of tag team legend Rick Steiner and nephew of his brother Scott, he has always wanted to be a wrestler. Looking the part, his ascent to the top has been quick due to his natural skill and stature. He has held the NXT title and the Intercontinental title since his debut in 2021. Yet outside the ring, his real love is heading out on the lake and indulging in a spot of calm, peaceful fishing.

Breakker’s Fishing Passion

Before Breakker was a staple on Monday Night Raw and was honing his craft at the NXT performance centre, fishing was a big part of his schedule. After work, he would head down to Lake Apopka or Lake Tohopekaliga and unwind with a rod and some bait.

He began fishing as a youngster, growing up in woodland near Woodstock, Ga, close to Lake Allatoona. By his own admission, he loved being outside fishing. Bass fishing is his most passionate hobby, which he hopes to take up as a career once his in-ring days are over.

Giving Apollo Crews Fishing Lessons

Fishing has become an extremely popular pastime in the United States. It allows people a chance to get outside, and has been made even more popular by TV shows featuring it. Celebrities like Breakker have helped it along. Now, there are even angling-themed games such as Big Bass Bonanza for people to play when they can’t get on the sea or river. A slot game, it has innovative mechanics that let people haul in fish that equate to cash prizes. It has now become one of the most popular franchises in slot game history, riding the wave of fishing popularity.

Breakker has actually taught other superstars to wrestle, such as Apollo Crews. In fact, Crews caught his first fish on the first day he went fishing with Bron. Crews noted that they went to the river, at which point Breakker noted: “Oh, this is going to be a good spot for some fish.” Breakker taught him to cast, and in virtually no time they reeled in a fish. He then noted that he would be going fishing again, even without the tutelage of his friend and rival. These segments were aired in the run-up to the NXT Deadline event.

A History of Fishing Superstars

Breakker enters a long line of superstars who have enjoyed fishing as a pastime. Sean Michaels is the most famous of these. In shows such as Legends House, he often took superstars out onto the blue and spent time fishing with them.

Although he has now left WWE, Eric Young was probably one of the most charismatic, angling-loving superstars. While his career was spent moving between WWE and TNA, he is one of the only wrestlers to have actually had a fishing-themed show in the form of Animal Planet’s ‘Off the Hook: Extreme Catches’. It seems that this is something Breakker may have had his eyes on, and is a possible career path should he retire from in-ring action.
