Maya World Says Athena’s Coaching And Teaching Prepared Her For Moments Like Filling In On Short Notice In The Owen Hart Cup

Maya World speaks on Athena’s coaching and teaching noting it prepared her for moments like this year’s AEW Owen Hart Cup.

Maya is a relatively new face in the AEW Women’s Division, originally coming in as part of a tag team with Hyan, and now on the verge of breaking out as a singles star in the division following AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, where she would reach the finals of the 2026 women’s Owen Hart Cup.

While speaking to the Augusta Free Press in a new interview, Maya World would speak about Athena’s coaching and teaching.

“Honestly, I say her coaching and teaching is what prepared me for moments like, making sure I’m ready whenever opportunity knocks. It’s definitely something she instills in her students to this day[…] In professional wrestling, you never know what’s going to happen. Even moments like, me getting signed after stepping up for a tag match, she told me, ‘I’ve been telling you, you never know what’s going to happen. Just always be ready, always be prepared, and never stop training. Stay ready.’”
