AJ Styles Says He’ll Defend His Peers At WWE, But Not At The Expense Of Bashing AEW

AJ Styles speaks about WWE and AEW.

On the newest episode of The Phenomally Retro Podcast, AJ Styles spoke about his support of his peers at WWE, but never wanting to do that at the expense of bashing AEW.

“I’ve said this before. It’s not me protecting WWE. It’s me protecting the people that work for WWE. My peers, and the guys that I care about and the women that I care about that are there. I will defend them because I know they’re busting their tail to put on a great show, and I’m not gonna bash AEW because those guys are doing the exact same thing. Whatever they’re doing and trying to be different and all these things, I get it. I get it. I’ve been there. So, I’m not gonna do that. That’s not what I’m about it.”

After Styles formally retired from in-ring competition, he addressed those who thought he would be making the move to AEW after finishing up with WWE.

Styles was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in April 2026.
