Kyle Fletcher has detailed dehydration struggles during his recent bout with El Phantasmo and Konosuke Takeshita in singles action.

On the July 2nd edition of AEW Collision, Fletcher would face off with El Phantasmo in his first singles match since returning from injury, before moving on to face off with Konosuke Takeshita in singles action for the International Title on this past week’s AEW Dynamite Beach Break.

While speaking in his latest vlog, Kyle Fletcher would detail how he had been dealing with issues related to dehydration in his last two singles matches.

“I didn’t talk about it much in the end of the last vlog, but that last match that I had with El Phantasmo, people at the show thought I got hurt, and then it came out that I was just dehydrated. So what happened was, literally as soon as the match finished, I started…  you know that feeling when you dry heave, like you haven’t got anything in your stomach and then you just start like having that reflux. Sorry if this is TMI as well. Oh my God. I hope that meal is yummy. So I rolled out of the ring and I tried to hide myself under the apron. I think someone got a video of that, which is lovely. Thanks so much for that, and then they managed to get me over to the doctor’s area. They got me over to the doctor’s area. Same thing again. I just was on all fours. They were pouring water over my head, trying to cool me down. But yeah, I wasn’t hurt. I just had this like, speaking to the doctors and stuff, it was an accumulation of stress, fatigue, like the day, not eating enough, not drinking enough. So it was a combination of all these things just kind of like made my body react that way, like I was just so done on nutrients and whatever, it was like my voluntary involuntary response, that was my first singles match back. Knowing that I had this match with Takeshita coming up, having that happen right before like the biggest match I’ve had in months, it stressed me out a lot and made me feel very anxious about this match today, especially more so than I was already, and then also add on to it, that it’s incredibly humid here, super hot, like people were talking about it the week before, saying that it’s gonna be ridiculous. So to have that kind of scare right before, you know, everything, everything happens for a reason. Everything happens for a reason. One day at a time. So today I actually did have a couple of moments where there was one moment in the match, hopefully you can’t see when, and then right after the match finishes, I had that feeling again, I had that like involuntary kind of reflux and I went, ‘crap, here I go again.’ I was able to push through today. Real trooper I am. 10 out of 10. Got through everything I was supposed to and didn’t have to change anything. So talking to the incredible doctors here at AEW, we have a lot of good support system more than just, you know, the physical stuff. It might be more of a mental thing now at this point because I was okay, but I think because I was worried so much about that happening that it kind of made my body react that way. I kind of like manifested it within myself because I was so anxious about this happening that like, then it happens and then you go into overdrive again and you’re going, ‘oh my God, it’s happening.’ I knew this would happen, and then it’s just not a nice feeling, that kind of panic. I was able to maintain my composure, I think, I hope and get through the stuff today. That’s oversharing with Kyle. Just to give you more of a background on what The life behind the wrestler is like, we’re all going through our own stuff. We’re humans as well. It’s hard out here sometimes. My life is also awesome and I’m grateful for all of it and I wouldn’t change it for the world.”

Elsewhere in the same video, Kyle would speak further on it being the hottest environment he has ever worked with on this past week’s AEW Dynamite. You can read more about that here.
