What an incredible first half of the year we’ve had. There have been some incredible match-ups at the big numbered UFC events, as well as the weekly Fight Nights. First, we have to mention the extravaganza that was Freedom 250. It is estimated that 34 million people watched the event globally, as many of the top fighters in the world went up against each other in a cage on the South Lawn of the White House.

UFC 329

UFC fans have already had a couple of Fight Nights to get over the drama of Freedom 250, but the big event coming up will be at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada, where one of the biggest names in the history of the sport will be returning to the octagon for the first time in five years.

Conor McGregor is a former featherweight and lightweight champion, and is the biggest pay-per-view draw in MMA history. He broke his leg in his most recent fight in 2021 and currently has a career record of 22-6. All fight fans will be eager to see whether he can recapture the power that has given him so many victories. But he is coming off a five-year break and has lost three of his last four fights, two against Dustin Poirier. 

McGregor has moved up a division to welterweight for this bout, as has his opponent on July 11th, Max Holloway. He has been fighting under the UFC banner since 2012 and now has a 27-9 record. His last two attempts at the featherweight title have ended in failure, however, and he recently lost the symbolic “BMF” title to Charles Oliveira at UFC 326. Both these talented fighters will have something to prove.

The whole evening looks set to be full of high-octane MMA action, with a number of other top fighters appearing on the undercard. McGregor and Holloway might be the headliners, but there is nothing amateur about the caliber of fighters who will be entering the cage before them.

Possibly the most intriguing of match-ups coming up before the main event will be the lightweight contest between Benoit Saint Denis and Paddy Pimblett. BSD is on a four-fight win streak, but will have to deal with a British fighter who only recently lost his first bout since 2018 and will be wanting to get over the setback of losing a lightweight title chance to Justin Gaethje.

UFC 330

The Fight Nights continue after the big night at the T-Mobile Arena, with UFC hosting events in Oklahoma City, Abu Dhabi, and Belgrade, Serbia, before returning to the Meta Apex in Las Vegas. Then comes the next numbered event, which will treat the MMA fans of Philadelphia to its first UFC night for seven years.

The Xfinity Mobile Arena, home of the Flyers and the 76ers, plays host to a stacked night of UFC action, headlined by a welterweight championship contest between Islam Makhachev and Ian Machado Garry. Makhachev is the current champion, while Machado Garry is ranked number two in that weight class.

A former lightweight champion, Makhachev boasts an impressive 28-1 career record and has won his last 16 bouts, a record for consecutive UFC victories that will be broken if he beats Machado Garry. The Irish fighter also only has one defeat to his name, however, and has won his last two bouts. This will be his first numbered event appearance since he lost a welterweight title eliminator fight against Shavkat Rakhmonov in 2025.

UFC Fight Nights

After UFC 330, there will be a series of Fight Nights scheduled to be hosted by Sacramento, Shanghai, China, and Paris, France, throughout August and September. The overseas trips, in particular, will be interesting, as it is UFC policy to showcase local fighters, giving them a chance to appear on a global stage and progress their own careers.

UFC action never stops, and it looks as though the upcoming fights will only emulate the drama and excitement that we have already seen so far in 2026.
