Callum Newman Details How Shoulder Injury Happened At NJPW Dominion

Callum Newman further comments on his shoulder injury.

It was in the main event of New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s 2026 Dominion event that Callum Newman’s reign as IWGP Heavyweight Champion came to an end. He was defeated by Yota Tsuji.

During the bout, Newman suffered a shoulder injury, and going into the G1 Climax tournament, he listed the specifics of the injury. While speaking to NJPW1972.com, Newman detailed how the shoulder injury happened.

“Slight dislocation of the shoulder, rear delt damage, tricep damage, a bone bruise, and some internal bleeding on the joint that needed draining. So (Yota) Tsuji took my title, but he had to do me in pretty good to take it.” Newman continued, “As he threw me (into the corner for a suplex), my tricep hit the rope and it went across from me. I felt the back of my shoulder pop out, and then as my arm came back into position, it popped back in. So there were two pops, and then I was stupid enough to keep going.”

Newman’s first match in the 2026 G1 tournament was a successful one. He scored a win over Yuya Uemura.
