Interim WWE Women’s Champion To Be Crowned In Ladder Match At SummerSlam

An Interim WWE Women’s Champion will be crowned.
WWE pushed out a video announcement from acting SmackDown General Manager Adam Pearce ahead of the 7/17 show.
Pearce stated that WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley has been recovering from a torn meniscus, but due to the tricky nature of the recovery, it’s been decided that an Interim WWE Women’s Champion will be crowned in a Ladder match at SummerSlam.
The qualifying matches will begin on the 7/17 SmackDown.

Fightful will be providing updates on the participants in the Ladder match. SummerSlam 2026 is a two-night event on August 1st and 2nd at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
