Tony Khan Addresses Potential Return Of ROH Hall Of Fame, Thinks Athena Has ‘Excellent Case’ To Be Inducted
An update on the ROH Hall of Fame.
Before AEW President Tony Khan acquired Ring of Honor, the previous regime had rolled out their first-ever ROH Hall of Fame class. The inductees are listed as follows:
- Bryan Danielson
- Samoa Joe
- CM Punk
- The Briscoes (Mark Briscoe & Jay Briscoe)
- Cary Silkin
That induction class was in 2022. Tony Khan appeared on the Battleground Podcast and was asked about the possibility of there being another class, and he said the following:
“I really think that’s a tremendous thought. I have not added to the Ring of Honor Hall of Fame. It was a fantastic inaugural class, that Ring of Honor, the previous administration, had inducted. So that was something that had already been set up when I bought the company. I think they picked a fantastic class, and I do think there are people that would be fantastic additions to the Ring of Honor Hall of Fame, and it is definitely something to think about and something I am interested in.” Khan was asked if he would turn it into a live ceremony for HonorClub, and he responded, “I’m not sure because you just got me thinking about it again. I’ll have to consider that. But it’s a great thought by you and I’ll take that under advisement. It’s a good consideration by you.”
Following up on that, Khan was asked if the ROH Women’s World Champion Athena would be inducted into the Hall of Fame, and he said she has an excellent case.
“I absolutely think she would have an excellent case to be in that. Yes.”
Athena is the longest-reigning champion in Ring of Honor history with over 1,300 consecutive days as a title holder.
