The infamous bout between Samoa Joe and Necro Butcher from 2005 was the subject of the latest episode of Dark Side of the Ring.
The brutal and bloody bout has become one of the most referenced independent matches of all-time, further establishing the credibility of both men.
While many thought the match came together after Necro took liberties with ROH students at a CHIKARA event, that wasn’t the case, according to Joe.
“For me personally, my wife, then girlfriend at the time, she lived close to Philly. I literally took the booking cause I was trying to get some ass. We were definitely different mindsets walking into this match. Until I walked into the arena and realized it was something different,” said Joe on Dark Side of the Ring.
