Nick Aldis Temporarily Relinquishes SmackDown General Manager Position To Face Gunther At WWE SummerSlam

Nick Aldis relinquishes his position as the SmackDown General Manager.

During the SummerSlam kickoff event, Triple H confirmed Nick Aldis vs. Gunther for SummerSlam. On this week’s SmackDown, Aldis and Gunther had a contract signing segment for their upcoming match.

Adam Pearce informed Aldis that as soon as he puts his signature on the contract, he’ll step down as the SmackDown General Manager. Aldis signed it anyway.

The segment ended with Aldis and Gunther brawling before the show went to commercial.

Wade Barrett later clarified that Aldis is only relinquishing his SmackDown General Manager duties temporarily to have this match.
