Austin Theory Says Paul Heyman Told Him ‘Don’t F This Up’ When He First Joined The Vision

Austin Theory talks about his history with Paul Heyman.

One-half of the WWE World Tag Team Champions, Austin Theory, has been a popular name on WWE television for many years now. He’s a former US Champion as well as a Mr. Money in the Bank. Theory is currently part of The Vision stable led by Paul Heyman on Monday Night Raw.

Speaking with The Early Bird Special, Theory talked about his history with Heyman. He recalled their first meeting at an Evolve show, where Heyman did the introduction for him that night.

“Me and Paul Heyman actually go way back. My whole time on the main roster, I’ve always spoken to him. He’s always given me great advice. He’s always had my back. He took me under his wing. The first time I met Paul Heyman was when I was on the Indies, it was the first time Evolve and the WWE did a show together in the ECW arena. Gabe Sapolsky – that’s my guy – and pretty much told me, ‘Hey, you’re the main event tonight. I got a surprise for you.’ I was like, ‘All right, I don’t know what that is.’ Then Paul Heyman walks in. The time I met Paul Heyman, I went up to him and said, ‘Hey, how you doing, sir? I’m Austin.’ The first thing he said was, ‘I’m a big fan of your work.’ I was like, ‘Holy shit.’ So that was cool.’  He comes up to me a little later, like in the night as the show’s going on. He goes, ‘Hey, if I’m going to introduce you tonight, what are things that I call you?’ I was like, ‘Wait, what?’ So he ended up doing the introduction for the match and the rest there is history.”

Theory later says that Heyman always had his back and that he was responsible for him joining Seth Rollins’ groups in WWE. When Theory first joined The Vision, Heyman also shared a piece of advice with him.

“I got to WWE and even the pandemic era of Raw, when I left NXT and went to Raw to do Seth’s group, that was all Paul Heyman as well. But I’d have to say, man, he’s always had my back. Even The Vision group, he wanted me in that. I was like, ‘Absolutely.’ I’d say when it comes to advice, there’s a lot of advice, but one of my favorite things he said to me when I first got with the group was ‘Don’t F this up.’ ‘All right, you got it.’”
