CM Punk: I Had Feelings About Not Being The Main Event, But I’m Not A Guy Who Has It In My Contract That I Have To End The Show

CM Punk successfully defended the Undisputed WWE Championship at WWE SummerSlam, defeating Cody Rhodes.
Despite the title being on the line, the match served as the co-main event to Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi inside Hell in a Cell.
Speaking on the SummerSlam post-show, Punk was asked how he felt about not being in the main event.
“Of course I had feelings about that, but I’m not one of these guys who has it in their contract that I HAVE to end the show. Ladies and gentlemen, there is a main event, and there is the match that goes last. It ain’t for me to decide. I’m too old for that. I’m just going to lace my boots up and beat somebody’s ass, that’s all I know. Whether I’m first, before intermission, popcorn match, semi-main, main, CM Punk is ALWAYS the main event,” he stated.
Punk will next defend the title against the winner of Sami Zayn vs. Finn Balor, which takes place on Sunday.
