Rocky Romero Is Still Hopeful That Josh Barnett Will Bring Back Bloodsport

Rocky Romero wants Josh Barnett to bring Bloodsport back.

When he decided to retire the concept back in April, Barnett probably wasn’t expecting the wrestling world to rally around Bloodsport and push for its return.

In a new interview with Fightful, Rocky Romero joined the fray and said that he isn’t ready to say goodbye to Bloodsport yet.

“I was sad to hear Mania weekend when Josh announced that. But I’m still kind of hopeful that Josh will bring it back because there’s really nothing like it in independent wrestling in America especially, there’s nothing like that traditional kind of UWF style. They had their own spin on it without the ring ropes. I just think it’s a cool product. I feel like everybody else, I’m not really ready to say goodbye to it yet. ‘Cause I think it was cool and different and it’s different way to present it. So I’m still hopeful Josh will come back and change his mind. I think he was doing a great job and obviously he was doing cool stuff. He was working with AEW people, and WWE people, and New Japan and Stardom all on the same show. That’s really something that not even I could pull together. So I feel like that was pretty cool and unique and different. He’s breaking down walls. So I don’t know. I’m hopeful. I’m hopeful him and Brett decide to bring back.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Romero spoke about the recent rise of MyAEW. Check out his full comments by clicking here.
