Matt Cardona feels that his 2021 deathmatch with Nick Gage was pivotal to him making his eventual return to WWE.
Back in July of 2021, Cardona would be attempting to make the best of his wrestling career following his release from the WWE and would turn to GCW, where he would have a deathmatch with Nick Gage with the GCW World Championship on the line. Cardona would win the bout, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his wrestling career. For Cardona, he feels there is a direct link between this match and him eventually returning to WWE.
While speaking to The Wrestling Classic in a new interview, Matt Cardona spoke about the match, noting that without it, he doesn’t think he would have made it back to WWE.
Yeah, I don’t think I’d be here talking to you. I don’t think I’d be back in WWE if it wasn’t for that deathmatch and everything that came from that deathmatch. So that deathmatch with Nick Gage, it changed my career and it changed my life. Go watch the documentary on my YouTube channel.”
Elsewhere in the same interview, Cardona spoke about his toys featuring in WWE: Unreal season 3. You can read more about that here.
