Why the UFC’s Fall Calendar Is Its Most Stacked in Years

The UFC enters autumn 2026 with one of its busiest lineups for years. Championship fights, major contender matchups and international cards are packed into a period stretching from August into October. This all means that there is relatively little downtime between fights, and this could alter the outcomes of entire divisions.

The schedule begins with UFC 330 in Philadelphia before moving through Sacramento, Shanghai, Paris, Arizona and Los Angeles. October then brings UFC 332 in Salt Lake City, an event in Edmonton and UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi. The geographical spread is significant, but the quality of the fights is what makes this run worth paying attention to.

Welterweight, strawweight and flyweight championships are involved, while leading contenders at middleweight, bantamweight, lightweight and featherweight also have major fights.

UFC 330 Opens With Two Championship Fights

UFC 330 takes place on August 15 and provides a strong start. The UFC returns to Philadelphia’s Xfinity Mobile Arena, and this is where the welterweight champion, Islam Mackachev, will defend his title against Ian Machado Garry. In the main co-event, Mackenzie Dern will be facing Gillian Robertson for the women’s strawweight championship.

Makhachev moved to welterweight after a dominant run as lightweight champion and defeated Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 322 to win the 170-pound title. His first defence comes against Garry, who recovered from his first professional defeat against Shavkat Rakhmonov, by securing victories over top fighters such as Carlos Prates and Belal Muhammad.

For anyone following UFC odds, the importance of the card goes much further than two belts. Welterweight has challengers, including Michael Morales, Carlos Prates and Rakhmonov, so the result of Makhachev against Garry will determine which potential matchups become realistic next.

Dern against Robertson has similar implications at strawweight. Dern claimed the vacant championship by defeating Virna Jandiroba, while Robertson earned her opportunity following five consecutive victories. This means that two title fights begin an autumn in which numerous divisions will undergo real changes.

Sacramento Keeps Middleweight Moving

There is just a single week between UFC 330 and the promotion’s visit to Sacramento. Here, Anthony Hernandez will be facing Gregory Rodrigues at the Golden 1 Centre in a 5-round middleweight main event.

Hernandez has developed into a serious contender with a style based heavily on pressure, wrestling and conditioning. Rodrigues offers a very different threat through his punching power and aggressive striking. This will give Hernandez another significant test as he attempts to move towards a championship opportunity.

The middleweight division has changed hugely since Khamzat Chimaev reached the top of the division. Nassourdine Imavov is also among the leading contenders, meaning every victory against ranked opposition means so much more.

The Sacramento event shows fans the true depth of the autumn programme. A numbered event featuring two championship fights is followed seven days later by a Fight Night with genuine consequences at 185 pounds rather than a card that has no real meaning.

Shanghai Has Major Bantamweight Stakes

The UFC heads to Shanghai on August 29, where Umar Nurmagomedov faces Song Yadong at the Oriental Sports Centre. This is a particularly important matchup in a bantamweight division where several fighters are competing for championship opportunities.

Nurmagomedov has already fought for the bantamweight championship, losing a decision to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 311. He has since rebuilt his position and is still one of the division’s leading contenders.

Song has his own opportunity to move forward and make progress. The Chinese fighter submitted former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo in Macau in May and now gets a five-round main event against a former title challenger in his home country.

The card also includes Yan Xiaonan against Denise Gomes at strawweight. Yan has previously challenged for UFC gold, so another victory would keep her close to the championship. With Dern and Robertson meeting two weeks earlier, the division could look very different by the end of August.

Paris Introduces Salahdine Parnasse

September begins with UFC Paris at the Accor Arena on September 5. Dan Hooker faces Salahdine Parnasse in the lightweight main event, giving one of Europe’s most successful fighters outside the UFC an immediate opportunity against established opposition.

Parnasse enters the UFC with a 23-2 professional record after becoming a two-division champion with KSW. Instead of being eased into the organisation against an unranked opponent, the Frenchman is making his debut in a five-round fight against Hooker.

Hooker’s experience makes this a demanding introduction. He has faced Islam Makhachev, Dustin Poirier, Michael Chandler, Justin Gaethje and numerous other high-level opponents during a long UFC career.

A Parnasse victory would immediately add another contender to an already deep lightweight division. Hooker, meanwhile, has an opportunity to halt the arrival of a highly regarded newcomer and strengthen his own position.

Noche UFC Puts Featherweight In Focus

One week later, Noche UFC takes place in Arizona, with Yair Rodriguez facing Jean Silva in the main event. The matchup brings together two fighters at very different stages of their UFC careers.

Rodriguez is a former interim featherweight champion who has fought Alexander Volkanovski, Max Holloway and Brian Ortega. He remains one of the division’s most experienced leading fighters.

Silva belongs to the newer group attempting to break into the established order. Beating a former interim champion would provide a major boost to his record and could move him much closer to the leading contenders at 145 pounds.

The card also features other recognised names, including former flyweight champion Brandon Moreno and former women’s flyweight champion Alexa Grasso. Heavyweights Curtis Blaydes and Waldo Cortes Acosta are also scheduled to meet, adding another fight with divisional significance.

Noche UFC comes directly between Paris and UFC 331, creating three consecutive September weekends with important main events.

UFC 331 Brings A Flyweight Championship Rematch

The sequence continues on September 19 when UFC 331 arrives at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Flyweight champion Joshua Van faces Alexandre Pantoja in a rematch of their previous championship encounter.

Van’s first meeting with Pantoja ended when the Brazilian suffered an injury, leaving an obvious reason for a second fight. Pantoja now has the opportunity to regain the championship, while Van can strengthen his status by defeating the former champion in a more conclusive contest.

There is significant lightweight action underneath the title fight. Arman Tsarukyan faces Mauricio Ruffy in a five-round matchup, giving both fighters an opportunity to improve their championship credentials.

Tsarukyan has already been close to a title opportunity and remains one of the lightweight division’s strongest grapplers. Ruffy represents another emerging threat in a division containing Ilia Topuria, Justin Gaethje, Charles Oliveira and several other established names.

UFC 331 combines an important championship rematch with a contest capable of producing one of lightweight’s next major challengers.

October Keeps The Schedule Packed

The autumn run continues into October with two numbered events during the same month. UFC 332 takes place at the Delta Centre in Salt Lake City on October 3, while UFC 333 is scheduled for Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on October 24.

Salt Lake City has become a regular destination for major UFC events. The city previously hosted UFC 278, UFC 291 and UFC 307, including several memorable championship and high-profile fights.

Between UFC 332 and UFC 333, the promotion travels to Edmonton for an October 17 event at Rogers Place. That gives the UFC another major Canadian date before attention switches to Abu Dhabi a week later.

Abu Dhabi has become one of the promotion’s most important international destinations, hosting numerous numbered cards and championship fights during the past several years. UFC 333 continues that relationship and completes an exceptionally busy October.

A Truly International Run Of Events

Another reason the autumn schedule stands out is its geographical range. In just over two months, UFC events will take place in Philadelphia, Sacramento, Shanghai, Paris, Arizona, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Edmonton and Abu Dhabi.

The locations also connect naturally with several of the fighters involved. Song receives a major opportunity in China, while Parnasse makes his UFC debut in Paris. Noche UFC again provides a showcase around Mexican Independence celebrations before major numbered events take the promotion to Los Angeles and Abu Dhabi.

Why This Autumn Stands Out

The real strength of the 2026 Autumn calendar is that there is a real concentration of consequential fights. Makhachev vs Garry will determine the direction of the welterweight division, while Dern and Robertson will be settling the strawweight championship. Hernandez and Rodrigues have clear middleweight ambitions, and Nurmagomedov against Song is set to have a major impact on the next bantamweight title challenger.

By the end of October, it’s more than just slightly possible that UFC could have new champions and several new number one contenders. The results are set to establish many of the fights that will dominate the opening months of 2027. For fans, it means more than two months in which almost every weekend has something meaningful at stake
