Xia Brookside says that she had imposters syndrome during the first week of her TNA Knockouts world title reign.

Brookside is the current champion and is set to defend the title at TNA Lockdown inside a steel cage, but during the early parts of her reign, she was questioning if she belonged.

While speaking to The Daily Star in a recent interview, TNA Knockouts World Champion Xia Brookside spoke about dealing with imposter syndrome early on in her reign as champion.

“It was surreal. I mean, I was told leading on, I think maybe a month before, but I was like, sure, I’m winning. Like, you just, I didn’t tell anyone, I didn’t say anything because I didn’t believe it, and I’m also not going to let myself get excited for something that can get taken away like that, right? It’s one of those things, you don’t believe it until the bell has rung and you are holding it. So it was kind of like a disbelief, and then even when I won it, I had like imposter syndrome for the first week. I didn’t get the emotions after the match. I didn’t come back and start crying, you know, how people normally do, and then we go straight onto the next loop. I forget where it was. We go straight to the next one, and I get back from the final match, the rematch and I just start bawling. I’m like, it finally sunk in. Like the story was wrapped up. I’m holding the TNA Knockouts World Championship and it all just hit me at once. So it was disbelief, imposter syndrome and full dramatics.”
