For many professional wrestlers, early ridicule for wanting to achieve the dream of stepping into the ring as a wrestler is not uncommon. For Ospreay, it was something that made his school life less than fun.
While speaking during the latest episode of his Rebuild & Destroy vlog series, Will Ospreay reflected on his school life while visiting his old school grounds.
“I’m standing on my old school grounds. I have a lot of great memories in here, like, so many, like, friends that I’ve had from this school that I still carry over to now. Just a lot of, like, happy memories, but I won’t lie to you, I flipping hated school, and I think it was a lot of people used to take the piss out of me because I wanted to pursue pro wrestling. I wanted to do something that was different and I could never shut it off in my brain. Everyone from school knew that I was mad into wrestling and that I just wanted to do this. I wasn’t good at my schoolwork. I wasn’t good at any of that. So the fact that I got like embarrassed so much because I remember being in school and they would be like, ‘what do you want to be when you grow up? I remember standing in front of everyone saying a wrestler,’ and they were just… I got laughed at, man. It was not nice, but… Heyo.”
Elsewhere in a recent interview, Ospreay spoke about how expensive his neck surgery was. You can read more about that here.
