Orange Cassidy Didn’t Like When The Continental And International Titles Were Merged

Orange Cassidy is viewed by many as the best AEW International Champion, holding the title for 326 days and making 30 title defenses.

Speaking to Adrian Hernandez of Unlikely, Cassidy was asked about his reign and how people still recognize his run.

“When you get a new championship, and AEW has a lot of them, we know that, an identity…I was me with it. I did what I thought was right and it gave it an identity. I don’t care about a lot of things, I cared when it was merged with the Continental, and they had that one championship that was the International and the Continental. I didn’t like that because I felt that a lot of hard work went into that championship to actually make it something other than a world championship that people could go after. To look at that lineage to go from me, ‘Oh, a joke, a mascot,’ to make it a championship that could headline a pay-per-view, and now you have arguably one of the best wrestlers in Kyle Fletcher holding it and to have these incredible matches, it makes me feel good. It also makes me want to get it back,” he said.

The title was merged at AEW All In 2025 when Kenny Omega, the International Champion at the time, faced Kazuchika Okada, the Continental Champion.

The two titles have once again been separated.

Fletcher will defend the International Title against Okada and Konosuke Takeshita at AEW All In.
