Jason Earles Has Been Wondering For Fifteen Years If John Cena Realized They Were The Same Age Filming Hannah Montana

Jason Earles reflects on acting alongside John Cena in Hannah Montana while the pair were the same age in 2010.

When John Cena began making his way into Hollywood in film and TV roles, one of his earliest appearances was on Hannah Montana, where he would wrestle Hannah’s brother Jackson (played by Jason Earles) during the appearance. Despite Earles playing a young man in the show, Cena and Jason would actually be the same age at the time, something that would shock Cena when he learned of it this year.

While speaking to Joe Vulpis in a recent interview, Jason Earles would speak about the fact the pair were the same age during filming.

“That’s a good question. I mean, I don’t think I realized at the time we were the same age. Like, when we shot that episode, I just remember being like, ‘oh, John Cena, that’s awesome,’ and we did the thing. Yeah, I knew he was a… yeah, all the you can’t see me. I knew all that stuff. So I was stoked that he was there on the show. I didn’t find out until recently that that was, like, his first acting job. First acting job ever, and… It was years later that one of those meme websites or whatever figured out that we were the same age, and then they took that picture of us on set and been like, crazy fact of the day, Jason and John Cena are literally three days apart, and for 15 years, people have been sending me that meme of the two of us together, and it was maybe two months ago. Did you see the Jimmy Fallon? Okay, so – About two months ago, John Cena’s on Jimmy Fallon, and he’s like, ‘hey, so your first job was on Hannah Montana.’ He was like, ‘yeah, yeah, it was awesome. It was such a good time,’ and Jimmy’s like, ‘so did you get a chance to meet Miley?’ He’s like, ‘no, I didn’t, but I worked with some kid,’ and then so Jimmy pulls out a picture, and it’s of me when John Cena’s got me over his shoulder, and he’s getting ready to throw me, and he’s like, ‘oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, that’s the kid.’ He’s like, yeah, this is Jason. He played Jackson, and he was like, ‘did you know that you guys are the same age?’ and John Cena was like, ‘what?’ So it was the first time that John Cena had ever heard that we were the same age, and for 15 years, I’ve been wondering, like, ‘does John Cena know?’ Like, has anybody ever gone up to him and been like, ‘did you guys know you were the same age?’ Because every year for my birthday, people said that to me. Then, at one of the conventions that I’ve done recently, John was there and he was, he’s so, he was so nice. He- we were able to recreate our little picture, like, you know, 15 years later or whatever.”
