At AEW All Out 2024, Hangman Page and Swerve would face off in a Lights Out steel cage match to close out the show. The match would push the envelope of hardcore and deathmatch wrestling, with brutal spots involving syringes, cinder blocks and more.
While speaking to Hot 97 in a new interview, Swerve Strickland was asked about the syringe spot, noting that the powerbomb he received onto a cinder block was worse.
“That wasn’t as bad as getting powerbombed on the cinder block. That was a full on real cinder block. That was probably the worst thing I’ve ever done. I was like, never again.”
Swerve was then asked about how he prepares himself for these big spots, and what goes through his mind in the moment.
“Nothing! It has to empty. I have to empty my mind because I can’t have any other thoughts. I’m like, do it before I just say no. Do it now. Because there’s a time and window before I come to my realization this is stupid.”
