Elayna Black Says She Knew She Was Debuting During TNA’s AMC Premiere For ‘A Few Months Prior’, Told Fans She Was Retired To Protect Surprise

Elayna Black says she knew she was debuting TNA’s AMC premiere for months prior, telling fans she was retired during that period.

During TNA’s debut night airing on AMC earlier this year, Black would make her debut for the promotion, ending a break she had taken from pro wrestling at the time. Now, she has shared further details of how long the plan was in place.

While speaking to the I Love Wrestling podcast in a new interview, Elayna Black would speak about her TNA debut, noting that she knew about it for months prior, as well as admitting she told fans she was retired to protect the surprise.

“That was great.  I had known for a few months prior that I was going to debut on the AMC premiere, but everyone kind of- because I said I was taking a break. You know how the internet is. They take one thing and run with it or twist it or whatever the case may be. Everyone, I was getting comments every single day. ‘You’re retired. You retired. You suck. You don’t love wrestling, blah, blah, blah.’ At first it bothered me because I’m like, ‘do you not read? Like I said, I was taking a break. I didn’t say I was retiring.’ But then it got to the point kind of where I was like, when I knew I was coming to TNA and I knew I was coming back, that I kind of just started to run with it because I didn’t want anyone to know. I wanted it to be a surprise. I wanted it to be completely out of nowhere. So when people were coming up to me at meet and greets and asking why I retired and or tweeting me or whatever the case may be, I was just kind of running with it. I was like, you know, yeah, sure, I’m retired, whatever. Because I knew that I was going to be coming to TNA in January and doing having my debut on AMC. So I think it came off great. I think everyone was truly surprised, which is what I wanted.”
