IYO SKY Hopes She Is Not Still Wrestling When She’s 50

IYO SKY comments on her long-term future in wrestling.

IYO is nearly two decades into her career, and shows no signs of slowing down at the age of 36. While wrestlers have more and more longevity today, IYO hopes she isn’t still going when she hits 50, at least not with her current style.

Speaking to David Shoemaker & Kazeem Famuyide of Ringer Wrestling, IYO named Rey Mysterio as her favorite wrestler of all time.

Asked if she would still be wrestling at 50 like Rey, she replied, “I hope that my answer is no [laughs]. My style is very different. I cannot imagine putting a trash can on my head and jumping from the cage at 50 years old.”

IYO famously jumped off the cage at WarGames with a trash can over her head and body.

Asked if that spot hurt, she said, “Yes, yes [laughs]. Hurts, but scary. Much scarier because you’re completely blind and it’s so dark. I cannot see anything and I have to jump off a high cage. It’s more scary than hurts, but it hurts too.” 

IYO returned to the ring on Monday’s Raw, losing in a triple threat match against Roxanne Perez and La Catalina.
