Lexis King Says The Door Is Open For Avery Styles To Join BirthRight Faction: “That Kid Shaked Every Hand In NXT”

That door is open for Avery Styles, per Lexis King.

In the main event of the September 22nd WWE NXT on The CW, BirthRight (Lexis King, Uriah Connors & Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo) scored a win over the trio of Sean Legacy, E.K. Prosper and Zilla Fatu.

After the win, King joined Bully Ray on Busted Open After Dark, and his factionmates would later join the show.

The idea of Avery Styles, the son of A.J. Styles, joining BirthRight was brought up, and King said the door is open for that to happen. He added that Avery shook every hand when he was backstage at NXT.

Speaking about his own experience on the indies and being a second-generation wrestler, King admitted he was not the best personality-wise and came off as entitled.

“Of course. I mean, have you seen the kid work? Of course,” King responded when asked if Avery Styles would be accepted into BirthRight. “He’s phenomenal, no pun intended. He’s a very talented young man. He’s also very well-spoken, very respectful, was raised by someone who I admire, someone who I look up to, a very respectful man, a very incredible performer. So the amount of discipline and the amount that it took A.J. (Styles) to get to that level, I guarantee that as much as he’s around his kid, his kid has absorbed every bit of that. That kid shaked every hand in NXT. I don’t know all these rumors about him not setting up the chairs. I think that’s all bullcrap. Now, I will say, when I was on the indies, I wasn’t setting up rings and stuff but, I had that chip on my shoulder. I thought people owed me something. I was a piece of sh*t. I was a bad indie, second-gen guy. I think people had sympathy for me because I lost my father so they gave me a little bit of a pass. They didn’t go online and blast me. It’s a little bit different. He’s still here on this earth with his father. In a way, he has to compete with him in a way. His father is still an intellectual property of this world that is using the name A.J. Styles. He’s kind of doing the same moves and offense and stuff but… in the book 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene, law number 41 is: Be wary of following in a great man’s shoes, and it’s often noted that the second coming of something is not nearly as good as the first, and unfortunately for Avery Styles, the best wrestler to ever have the last name Styles is gonna be A.J. Styles. You kind of see that with our group now. We’ve all got different names; we’ve got our own identities. I know people wanna see us get our names back, this, that, and the other. But it’s the greatest thing for us. It allows us to completely step out and disregard the shadow of our parents, and I think if Avery came to BirthRight — he’s gonna come to NXT — he can carve his own identity, create his own name, develop his own finish, his own offense. He’s incredibly talented. I’ve only seen a couple of matches and I mean, the kid blows me away every time.”

Avery is signed to TNA Wrestling. He has yet to make his in-ring debut for the promotion, but he’s currently aligned with Frankie Kazarian on-screen.
