Tony Khan: AEW Has Seen An Uptick In PPV Buys When The Buy In/Tailgate Brawl Bleeds Into The Show

Tony Khan comments on AEW’s pay-per-view success.
The pre-show for AEW All In featured a Casino Trios Royale bout that ended up bleeding into the main card. This allowed for the New Level to debut in the opening minutes of the pay-per-view.
Speaking on the All Out media call, Tony Khan told Jeremy Lambert of Fightful that the company has seen an uptick in pay-per-view buys when a pre-show match continues on the main card.
“Big time. We have. That’s why it’s worked. I haven’t done it that much.“
Khan then recalled the first time that he pulled out this trick.
“The first time I did it was FTR vs. JetSpeed, it worked fantastically well. There was clearly an uptick, people were watching that match on TV and they were on TNT and they said, ‘Oh, I want to keep watching that match, I’m gonna buy this pay-per-view.’ That worked really well.”
To round out the topic, Khan noted that he won’t use the tactic for every show. Instead, he’ll choose to save it for the right situations.
