Darby Allin Had A Ruptured Eardrum When He Won AEW World Title
Darby Allin was depleted before his AEW World Championship win.
Allin won the title from MJF in shocking fashion on the April 15 episode of AEW Dynamite. As it turns out, the rest of the day was pretty brutal for Allin.
Speaking with Q101 for an interview that was recorded before AEW All Out, Darby revealed that he had a ruptured eardrum on the day of his big title win.
“That was the most depleted I’ve ever felt. I woke up that day, it was weird, I was coughing up blood. I was bleeding from the nose. I had a ruptured eardrum, so there’s blood coming out of my ear. I sent so much emotion in that promo that started the show that by the time it was ready for the match, I was so wiped.”
Darby’s reign with the AEW World Championship came to an end at Double Or Nothing in May.
Allin teamed with Steven Borden to face Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher at AEW All Out. The match was stopped after Borden smacked his head on the mat. During the post-show media scrum, Tony Khan said that Borden was awake and responsive at the hospital after undergoing a CT scan.
