Nic Nemeth: Leon Slater Will Probably Be A 10-Time World Champion When It’s All Said And Done, But There’s No Way In Hell He’s Beating Me

Nic Nemeth once again heaps praise on Leon Slater ahead of their TNA World Championship bout at Bound For Glory.
At TNA Bound For Glory later this month, Nemeth is scheduled to defend the TNA World Title against Slater, who is set to cash in Option C at the event. Nemeth has previously had much praise for the former TNA X-Division Champion.
While speaking to Reel Appreciation in a new interview, Nic Nemeth was once again asked about his upcoming title defense against Slater, noting that Slater will probably be a 10 time world champion by the end of his wrestling career.
“It’s really interesting. You know, a lot of people in this business say you got to bet on yourself because you never know who’s going to stand up for you or help you out. It’s kind of your one-on-one out there. It’s on your own career-wise, and Leon Slater bet on himself. He won the X Division Championship again. He turned it over to President Carlos Silva and said, ‘I want to turn this in for a shot to bet on myself to become the youngest world champion.’ I respect the hell out of that. He can do anything. The world is his oyster. He’s got 20 more years of running this place. But there’s something… there’s a reason that I’m two champions right now. There’s a reason I’ve been TNA world champion for a second time. There’s a reason I’m the main event every time TNA has a pay-per-view or a television. There’s a reason that all the years I’ve put in the work stealing shows and girlfriends every step of the way, I’ve outdone myself, and the day that Leon Slater can do what I do for as long as I can, I will tip my cap to him. But I’m rooting for him every step of the way. He’s probably going to be a 10-time world champion when it’s all said and done, but there’s no way in hell he’s beating me.”
Elsewhere in another recent interview, Nemeth spoke about Slater potentially running wrestling for the next 20 years. You can read more about that here.
