Jacques Rougeau Says Only 10% Of The Audience Booed Him At AEW Redemption

AEW paid tribute to the Rougeau Family at AEW Redemption in Montreal, bringing out Raymond Rougeau and Jacques Rougeau during the Buy-In portion of the PPV.

Jacques was booed by the audience, which he says comes with the territory of going against Vince McMahon and making enemies over the years.

“There is a running gag that there is a good Rougeau and a bad Rougeau, and I roll with it because it’s kind of the truth. Raymond has always been an easygoing guy. Whatever is put on his plate, he’ll eat. He’s very diplomatic. He’s always known how to sit between two people and please two people. I’ve never been like that. I’ve always been very prompt and quick on the trigger. That put me in many positions throughout my career where I said my piece of mind where, when I look back, business is business, and you should learn how to be more diplomatic. I guess that’s the autistic side of me, but I can’t; there is no gray zone with me,” he told Ben Veal on Wrestling Life.

He continued, “I made a lot of haters in the business. Raymond starts talking and they are applauding him. When I took the microphone, there were about 10% who were booing me, and I lit up. I started laughing. I made fun of it. I told them to kiss my ass. It felt so good and the reaction is so great. The 90% that loved me, they were upset that the 10% was booing me. When I told them to kiss my ass, they popped big time. The 10% popped too.”

Jacques recapped the segment, which included Rocky Romero interrupting the Rougeau’s and being taken out.

“Tony Khan came to see me, and he gave me three or four hugs. ‘That was amazing. That was amazing.’ All the pressure fell of whether I did the right thing. I questioned myself for ten or 15 minutes: ‘Did I do the right thing?’ With all the great messages I got, wow, what a comeback on the haters. That was fulfilling,” he said.

Elsewhere during the interview, Jacques denied throwing a tantrum over AEW not airing a video package. You can find his full comments here.
