Laynie Luck Addresses WWE ID Deal Not Being Renewed: “I Feel Like I Got Everything I Possibly Could Have Out Of That Program”
Laynie Luck opens up about the WWE I.D. deal not being renewed.
After Laynie Luck dropped the WWE I.D. Women’s Championship, Fightful Select first reported that she would be entering free agency as her deal was not being renewed. She held the WWE I.D. Women’s Title for over 300 days.
Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp conducted an interview with Luck, and she addressed her contract not being renewed.
“It’s honestly surprising, obviously. That’s the biggest word you can use. I took this whole year and I showed what I can do and I feel like I built so much value and I feel, like I said, lucky. I feel like I got everything I possibly could have out of that program and I wanted to go there and build value and grab knowledge and that’s exactly what I did. I feel like I really launched myself this year.”
She then went on to speak about the positive reception that she received online after the news was broken. Luck stated that she felt she was able to stay true to herself during the time that she was under contract.
“I feel like it’s just validating of the choices that I’ve made… Getting the contract initially was, I felt like, a big win for people who stay true to themselves and maybe that’s even something to do with I never had to change my name. I got to be Laynie the whole way through, and so I feel like people just see that and people know that and I’ve just been here; I’ve been around, I’ve been with the girls, I’ve been with the people. They just know who I am and the things that I wanna stand for and I feel like I got to just stay so true to myself and that was a win for my people who care about me and wanna see me win as myself.”
Luck has been wrestling since 2015. She’s made appearances for AEW, ROH, and a multitude of other promotions and companies during her 11 years in the business.
