Mike Bailey: Clockwork Carnage Is The Kind Of Match That I’ve Worked So Hard To Be Perfectly Prepared For

Mike Bailey is fired up for AEW WrestleDream.

The pay-per-view is set to feature the company’s first Clockwork Carnage match. With the intrigue of a new stipulation and the stacked lineup of competitors, the bout will likely bring in some new eyeballs.

Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Mike Bailey spoke about his excitement for the match.

“It feels absolutely fantastic and the great thing about AEW pay-per-views is that this is All Elite Wrestling
This is where the best wrestle. Any match could be the main event. But this will be my first time main
eventing an AEW pay-per-view for the AEW World Championship, and where I would like to be is I
would like to be defending the AEW World Championship as the main event of a pay-per-view. But I am
getting there and this is the first step.”

Bailey also recalled hearing about the idea from Ospreay before it was announced.

“So since joining United Empire, I’ve gotten a lot closer to Will Ospreay. This is a concept that he had
mentioned in the past and I saw it on TV when they announced it and, honestly, I love ridiculous match
ideas more than anyone on earth quite possibly. The more complex the better and when I saw it
announced on TV, I was like, ‘We are doing this for real.,’ and I was excited to watch it. My first thought
was, ‘Wow, this is going to be incredible. I can’t wait to see this.’ It wasn’t in my mind yet. I thought Will
Ospreay’s in this, he’s the head of United Empire. I would like to qualify, obviously, but it wasn’t until I
was able to actually bring that up and make that happen.”

Rounding out the topic, Bailey described the Clockwork Carnage match as “the kind of match” that he wants to be in.

“But now that I’m gonna be in it, it feels all the more surreal. But this is exactly the kind of match that I’ve
worked so hard for my career to be perfectly prepared for, having been in DDT, in some of the most ridiculous matches in professional wrestling history. Also, throughout my independent career, I did hour-long, 45-minute-long, 30-minute matches, sometimes—very often—several times a week. So this is exactly the kind of match that I want to be in.”
