Conrad Thompson Responds To Roman Reigns Controversy, ‘I Just Shared My Personal Wrestling Opinion’

Conrad Thompson just has an opinion.
In recent weeks, Thompson has remained in the headlines, with many criticizing him for his opinions about Roman Reigns and his workload.
Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp for a new interview, Conrad explained himself. Then, he responded to the claim that he talks about Reigns for clicks.
“Listen, I slipped it in, my casual opinion—which I’ll admit I do very rarely. I’m normally trying to put myself in the John Stockton position and trying to get the ball to the Karl Malone’s of the world, which would be the Jeff Jarrett’s or the Eric Bischoff’s or whomever. So people listen for their opinions, but Eric and I happened to be doing a SummerSlam review and I said that Seth and Roman had the match of the night, the match of the weekend, but I was ready for something new, and I shared my opinion about Roman that I was ready for something new. Then everyone else started talking about it. That’s what I found so silly is that my opinion is so ridiculous and I’m so irrelevant. Then why the hell is everybody still talking about it? Like even today, my phone was blowing up. People were talking about it on WWE radio. It’s like, that was forever ago. Then when Roman is saying that, he’s doing it for clicks — on Ariel Helwani’s show? On Busted Open? My point was all of my podcasts for the last two months would have had Roman in the thumbnails and we would have been talking about that, but that wasn’t my intent.”
Continuing on, Thompson admits that he finds the entire situation amusing.
“I never want my opinion to be what everyone’s talking about, but in this particular case, it was my opinion. So when people are telling me I’m wrong, I’m like, ‘I don’t think you can be wrong in your opinion.’ You like some things more than you like other things. That’s where I was with it. But yeah, the bias thing I thought was weird. Like, yes, I’m friendly with Cody, but I’m friendly with a lot of people in the locker room, including my sister-in-law who works there; one of my best friends, who helps run creative. It’s like Eric Bischoff gets talent from TKO every single weekend for Real American Freestyle. I’m Switzerland. I just shared my personal wrestling opinion and people got bent out of shape about it. I found it amusing.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Conrad Thompson said that he wants to do podcasts with Paul Heyman and Michael Hayes. Check out his full comments by clicking here.
