Jimmy House Reveals Advice Dustin Rhodes Shared With Him Early In His Career

Jimmy House knows that you have to pull off anything to be successful in wrestling.

House has enjoyed much of his wrestling success as a member of The Mog Squad faction. Outside of WWE EVOLVE, the group has appeared for promotions like Reality Of Wrestling and Coastal Championship Wrestling.

Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp for a new interview, House talked about working with the group and how he was ready for that chapter of his journey.

“On the indies, like at ROW, it started to really get over. By the time I was coming out, there’s so many
people doing the Mog Squad sign and stuff like that. People were starting to get drawn to it. We’re
building some momentum. But at first, again, with the goal that I talked about, wanting to be a hero for
kids, there’s an initial flinch there, just as a heel in general, right? But I understand how professional
wrestling is, and a lot of times you need to know how to do both. Then second to that, there’s countless
examples where somebody excels as a heel and it allows them to evolve into an even better babyface. So I was fully aware and ready for that particular chapter of the journey. But then when you specify it to the Mog stuff, it’s like this is our first time talking and, not to downgrade the Mog community, but it’s not necessarily a community that I mesh in, at least not naturally. So I can honestly say I gave my best go at it for sure. There’s probably many critiques that the age group of 20 to 25 could probably give me if they saw my work.”

Jimmy House also shared some valuable advice he received from Dustin Rhodes early in his wrestling career.

“But that said, I try to have as much fun with it as I could because I know it’s one of those things where, again, I think of Dustin, for example, and his story with Goldust where he’s presented this idea and he has to look up what the term androgynous means and he’s like, ‘Whoa, okay.’ But then he becomes one of the biggest legends of all time because he made this out of the blue character something that was iconic. So I was nowhere near the Goldust level, both from a skill and also the stuff that Dustin did standpoint. But I saw it as an opportunity to do the same thing where this is the exact opposite of me truly. But again, I think becoming a good professional wrestler is being. a good worker or a great worker and the term worker has so many different definitions. One of the definitions I learned early on from Dustin is being a great worker is your ability to pull off really anything that you’re asked of, to make it real and make it look great. So that was my first opportunity to do something like that in my wrestling career, because I’m really just myself on the indies and whatnot.”

Elsewhere in the interview, House credited Gabe Sapolsky for opening his door to WWE. Check out his full comments by clicking here.
