Adam Cole Is The Guy Who "Everybody Wants Right Now"

Now that he is a free agent, Adam Cole apparently is in high demand with some of the top promotions in the world showing interest.

"Everybody wants Adam Cole right now," Dave Meltzer said on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio.

Karrion Kross: There's Something Much Bigger Going On Here Than What's Happening In The Ring

Meltzer said that WWE and New Japan Pro Wrestling are both interested in signing Cole, who is the only wrestler to win the Ring of Honor World Title on three separate occasions. Cole has worked for NJPW before, appearing there at several events -- including Wrestle Kingdom 11 back in January, where he won the ROH title for the third time -- as part of the ongoing working relationship between New Japan and ROH.

Cole's contract with ROH expired at midnight on May 1 but he still is scheduled to be part of the next ROH pay-per-view, War of the Worlds, on May 12.

Meltzer added that he expects Cole eventually will sign with WWE, though he noted it was not a lock.

Cole has expressed an interest in joining WWE -- and being part of the NXT roster, in particular -- in the past.

"I think the brand is cool. I think the Takeover shows are awesome," Cole said as part of an interview with ESPN last month. "I think the fans are great. I love the roster of guys. I think it's something that's going to be looked at as a very special time in pro wrestling, so I want to be a part of it. Secondly, of course in a perfect world if I went to NXT, I wouldn't want to be there forever; but I like the idea of going there and performing there and getting accustomed to the WWE audience and them getting accustomed to me and then eventually making the move to Raw or Smackdown."

Cole is slated to face longtime New Japan ace Hiroshi Tanahashi at the War of the Worlds pay-per-view.
