AJ Styles Says He Doesn't "Carry" Anyone In His Matches, Praises His Opponents

It's often said that AJ Styles could carry any opponent to a Four Star match. Some have even used the old adage "He could have a great match with a broom." For AJ's part, he says he doesn't carry anyone. or anything, for that matter.

"Listen, I don't carry anything. I just try to do my part," he told Sam Roberts. Many would disagree with him. There were many who said he 'carried' Roman Reigns to two stellar matches last May, at Payback and Extreme Rules. Stone Cold Steve Austin was one of those people. AJ Styles sees it differently.

"Roman Reigns, and I knew this going into it how great he could be and giving to him and trusting him with the spots we were going to do and I think that had a lot to do with it," Styles began. "And I really thought, 'holy cow, he's a lot better than anybody thinks he is.' Like, Roman Reigns is great!"

He also had nothing but good things to say about another high-profile opponent of his--John Cena.

"John Cena's great. John Cena is willing to do anything and everything to make sure a match comes out as good as it possibly could be."

And as for that "he could have a great match with a broom" stuff, he says not-so-fast. "It always comes down to two people. I've heard it said, and it's flattering, if they put me in there with a broom, I can have a great match. And it's not true. It won't be entertaining whatsoever, but I'll give it my best shot."

AJ Styles will 'give it his best shot' against Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 33, and Fightful.com will have wall to wall coverage of the whole weekend.
