Anderson Silva Victorious In Controversial UFC 208 Decision

Anderson Silva was victorious at UFC 208 by way of unanimous decision.

For the first time in over four years, Silva had his hand raised in the Octagon. He faced Derek Brunson who was coming off of a TKO loss in a fight of the night performance. The thirty-three-year-old Brunson was looking for the biggest win of his career.

Fightful correspondent  David Tees provided live coverage and discussion and he had the scorecard even going into the third round. The following is his live play-by-play of the final round.

"The round begins with Brunson nailing Silva with a few lefts, Brunson looks for the takedown and he eats a knee strike for his efforts. Brunson goes for another takedown by holding Silva against the cage wall, Silva breaks free and he kicks Brunson in the midsection. Silva chases Brunson around the octagon while throwing a combination, Brunson nails Silva with a two punch combo after eating a kick. Silva attacks Brunson with knee strikes while they clinch a few times, Silva nails Brunson with a spinning heel kick to the leg. Brunson charges forward while attacking Silva with a combination, Brunson scores a takedown on Silva and he gets the full guard as the round ends," wrote Tees.

Tees and some fans had Brunson winning the fight, but the judges disagreed. The official score cards read 29-28,29-28, and 30-27, all showing Silva as the winner. In his post-fight interview, Silva would express how long he had wanted to get another UFC win and how big of a dream it was to fight in New York City, Silva moves to a 34-8 record, while Brunson dropped to 16-5.

FightfulMMA.com held a podcast after the event to discuss the outcome. The podcast can be found on Youtube, iTunes and Stitcher.
