Announcers, Wrestlers React To JBL Leaving SmackDown Live

John Bradshaw Layfield's departure from the SmackDown commentary team got the wrestling social media talking.

JBL announced on September 1 that he would be stepping down from the position as SmackDown Live commentator in order "to focus on his new role as a Beyond Sport Global Ambassador."

Several WWE announcers, wrestlers, and even former WWE wrestlers took to social media to wish good luck to the former WWE champion on his new venture.

In the hours after JBL made the announcement, several people on Twitter said either Renee Young or NXT play-by-play announcer Mauro Ranallo should replace Layfield on the SmackDown commentary team. Both Young and Ranallo responded by saying that they will not take the SmackDown job.

JBL has been working as a color commentator for WWE in his latest run since 2013, appearing on both Raw and Smackdown.
