Anthony Pettis Continues to Challenge Max Halloway

MMA

New to the featherweight division, Anthony Pettis is ready to face the best. After beating Charles Oliveira he began his campaign to fight the third ranked featherweight Max Holloway.

Three days after his victory in Vancouver, Pettis took to twitter to ask Holloway about fighting in New York this November. Holloway responded "If I don't get @josealdojunior you're the next in line #alliseeisgold."

Then on Monday, Pettis appeared on The MMAHour. He spoke about his transition from lightweight to featherweight. The weight cut "went good" said Pettis but he did struggle losing the last two pounds. He does not think the weight cut will keep him from staying at featherweight. When discussing why he moved, Pettis said "it was a little bit of my decision, and actually Malki's (Kawa, Pettis' manager).

He continued "(Kawa) was the guy who was laying out the process." Pettis said Kawa wanted to "slow it down and try something new", Kawa told Pettis there was a clear path to the title. Pettis talked about the talent in the division "you got BJ Penn, Conor McGregor, Jose Aldo, Frankie Edgar, some many good guys at one hundred forty fight pounds." He called the switch to featherweight "strategic."

Among the contenders Pettis wishes to face is Max Holloway. "I think me and Max Holloway would be a great fight" Pettis said "He's sitting on the sidelines waiting for a title shot as well." He talked about tweeting him and that he'd "love" to fight Holloway.
