Asuka To Debut On WWE Raw

The greatest NXT title holder of all-time is headed to WWE Raw.

Touted as the "hottest free agent in wrestling," a vignette ran on this week's episode of WWE Raw, promoting Asuka's upcoming debut on the brand. Asuka has spent the last two years in WWE's developmental brand NXT, where there were no original plans to call her up to the main roster. Asuka's success forced WWE's hand, and she'll join the likes of Bayley, Sasha Banks, Emma, Nia Jax and Alexa Bliss on the "red brand."

Asuka never actually lost her NXT Championship. Instead, she suffered a collarbone injury that put her out of action, and caused NXT Commissioner William Regal to vacate the title after a title reign of over 500 days -- a WWE women's record. Regal also said he'd started negotiations to send Asuka to Raw or Smackdown.

Asuka is also slated for Smackdown brand shows in Japan next month. Turning 36 years old later this month, Asuka debuted over 13 years ago, and spent much of her career in Japan before making the move stateside in 2015.

The Fightful.com panel will discuss the move on tonight's post-Raw podcast, which can be seen both on Youtube and here on Fightful.com
