Austin Aries Trolls News Sites After False Reports He Was Backstage At TLC

Austin Aries unleashed on several wrestling media outlets after apparent inaccurate reports that Aries was backstage at TLC last night.

Aries, who was released by WWE back in July, made an Instagram post on Sunday with Enzo Amore in the background that was interpreted by some to be the backstage area at TLC in Minneapolis, MN:

In actuality, though, Aries said the picture was taken at the Roman Colosseum during WWE's European tour earlier this year.

From there, Aries embarked on a series of trollish responses in reply to the reports he was backstage

"Yes, backstage at @TargetCenterMN resembles the Roman Colosseum, and my hair grew back in 8hrs. Great investigative reporting" read one partial tweet.

"Glad all the inept 'news' sites are outing themselves today. I hope all you followers are finally figuring it out," read another.

Aries then teased an upcoming appearance on Chris Jericho's podcast. Aries has done very little media since leaving WWE this past summer.

After a lengthy career that included one reign as TNA World Champion and two runs as Ring of Honor World Champion, Aries made a long-anticipated debut in WWE last year with NXT, but got called up to the main roster as a commentator when 205 Live debuted last fall. At the time, Aries was still recovering from a facial injury sustained during a house show match against Shinsuke Nakamura. Once cleared, Aries entered a lengthy feud with Neville over the Cruiserweight Title but never unseated Neville to become champion. Coincidentally, Neville also is seeking an apparent exit from the company.
