The ban on pro wrestling in Edmonton, Alberta Canada will seemingly end soon, allowing pro wrestling companies like WWE to return to the city.
CBC reports that an amendment to a moratorium that bans all combative sports in the city for at least one year will be tabled to the city council on January 23. The council is expected to pass the amendment, allowing pro wrestling to remain in the city. The mayor of Edmonton, Don Iveson, commented on the situation in a pretty lighthearted manner.
"My heart is broken to find out that it's a predetermined outcome," Iveson said. "It's like finding out that Santa Claus isn't real, but nonetheless they'll be back in business in a week."
The moratorium that would ban all combative sports in the city was placed last month after MMA fighter Tim Hague died back in August after suffering serious injuries during a boxing match.
WWE originally had a show scheduled in Edmonton for February 9, but was canceled after the moratorium was passed.
