Boxing Coach Angelo Reyes Says Conor McGregor Lied About Paulie Malignaggi

UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor is currently preparing for his upcoming super fight against the legendary Floyd Mayweather.

Angelo Reyes is one of the most respected boxing coaches in the world right now and he wants the UFC fighter to stop lying about Paulie Malignaggi’s condition during their sparring sessions.

“Just don’t lie about it, Conor,” Reyes said on MMA Junkie Radio. “Either say nothing, or say the truth. But don’t lie. You don’t have to go, ‘He was concussed.’ Dude, I was hanging out with him. If that’s what a fighter looks like (concussed). … In the boxing world, we don’t like liars.”

McGregor has said a lot about Malignaggi and their sparring sessions, with one of the most damning statements being that the retired boxer got beaten up during their sparring sessions.

Reyes would even go as far as saying that Malignaggi wasn’t even sparring that hard with McGregor.

“When I saw Paulie, there was no indication it was a hard sparring session,” Reyes said. “In fact, it was the complete opposite.”

Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
