Boxing's super middleweight division continues to be at war with unified Gennady Golovkin, this time it is former champion Carl Froch who is calling out Golovkin.
The former WBA and IBF super middleweight wrote an article on SkySports.com and said he would beat Golovkin, even at his age and two-and-a-half years since his last fight. Froch also said that he wanted Golovkin to simply fight at super middleweight to prove his skills in the boxing ring.
"Here and now, I'd beat Golovkin. I'm too big for him but it's not happening," Froch wrote. "Golovkin needs to fight somebody. He's not going to become a Hall of Famer if he doesn't fight anybody. If Golovkin wants to fight the best - and after talking about moving up to somewhere near super-middleweight or even 171-172 lbs. when my negotiations with him took place over a year ago - I am sure Andre Ward could make that weight."
Froch continued to take his criticism of GGG to Twitter where Golovkin had enough of Froch and lashed out at him.
This isn't the first time someone from the 168-pound division came out and challenged Golovkin to move up in weight. Current IBF super middleweight titleholder James DeGale also said he could beat Golovkin.
Golovkin is trying to secure a fight with WBA "regular" champion Daniel Jacobs at some point in early 2017. Froch retired from boxing last year.
