A legal letter has been sent regarding the potential Anthony Joshua versus Tyson Fury bout.
There is an update on the planned fight between Anthony Joshua (30-4) and Tyson Fury (36-2-1).
Eddie Hearn is the promoter at Matchroom Boxing, which Joshua fights under. Hearn told DAZN that a legal letter has been sent to TKO, the parent company of Zuffa Boxing, WWE, and UFC. Hearn alleges that TKO reached out to Joshua and offered him an undisclosed amount of money to have the fight against Fury take place in North America on November 20th at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
“TKO went around the back again to try and offer (Anthony) Joshua money to do the fight in America. It’s a dirty, dirty game, mate, to be honest with you. It’s made it even harder for them now because Joshua ain’t about that. (TKO said), ‘You’ve got an hour and a half to make your decision.’ (Joshua said), ‘Like, mate, what don’t you understand? I signed to fight in Britain. I want the fight in Britain.’ You can’t buy everybody. Now, because of what they’ve said, they’re so desperate. They’re panicking, and they’re doing silly things like that, and they’re going to get in trouble.”
DAZN reached out to a TKO representative but did not receive a response.
Zuffa Boxing and UFC President Dana White said that they’ve helped book MSG and secure Netflix as the broadcaster for the potential fight.
Hearn stated that he believes TKO has made it difficult to make progress on the fight being official.
“If they had never gotten involved in the first place, the fight would already be announced and signed. They are the ones that are trying to bring this fight to America. They are the ones that are basically saying to British fight fans, ‘We don’t give a f*ck. We don’t care about British fight fans. We want to do the fight in America. That’s where we’re from.’ Now, because of what they’ve said, they’re so desperate.”
On September 12th, Zuffa Boxing is presenting an event at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, which will be headlined by Ryan Garcia defending the WBC Welterweight Title against Conor Benn.
