Exclusive: Badou Jack Open To Dmitry Bivol Fight, Leonard Ellerbe Comments

Less than one year ago, Badou Jack was one scorecard in his favor away from dethroning Adonis Stevenson and winning another world title.

But now, Jack finds himself in position to put himself at the top of the contenders list with his next fight against Marcus Browne. The two are set to fight for the newly-created interim WBA light heavyweight title on January 19 as the co-main event bout of the Manny Pacquiao vs. Adrien Broner pay-per-view card.

Although an interim is at play, there is still WBA champion Dmitry Bivol, who finds himself a television free agent after HBO Boxing folded at the conclusion of 2018. During a recent conference call, Jack spoke to Fightful about a potential fight against Bivol and stated that he wouldn’t be opposed to that fight.

“Yes, that’s the fight that I really wanted but, right now, I’m focusing on Marcus Browne. That’s where all my focus is, so I can’t look past anyone. I know that as a fighter better than anybody else." Jack said.

It was at that point in the conference call when Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe chimed and further elaborated on such a title bout to Fightful.

“If Badou is victorious in this fight against Marcus Browne, he’s willing to fight any of the light heavyweight champions out there - any of them," Ellerbe said.

The fight between Jack and Browne will be one of four title bouts set to take place on the card with Pacquiao vs. Broner being for the WBA “Regular” welterweight title.
