Exclusive: Josesito Lopez: I'm Definitely Prepared For Keith Thurman

When fans tune in to watch Josesito Lopez face off against Keith Thurman for the WBA welterweight title on January 26, they will get to see a new and improved Lopez, according to the challenger.

One quick look at Lopez's resume and there's a who's who of boxing stars that he has faced. Lopez has gone up against the likes of Canelo Alvarez, Marcos Maidana, Victor Ortiz, Jessie Vargas and Andre Berto among others. But against those five boxers, Lopez sports a 1-4 record.

But it has been years since Lopez has been under the bright lights that he will be in when he faces Thurman in the main event of a PBC card televised on Fox. In a recent media conference call, Lopez claims that people will witness a new version of himself, one that won't be a step behind all those other big names that he's faced and that he is ready to face the best version of Thurman.

"For those that haven’t seen some of those big fights, you’re definitely going to see an improved fighter. I have had some good, tough battles in the past against some champions. But if you look back and look at my fights, you could say I was one step behind them in whatever might have been. I’m definitely prepared. I’m ready to go, I’m anxious to get there soon," Lopez said.

Lopez will competing for a world title just for the second time in his career but will do so riding a three-fight win streak since his last defeat, a 2015 loss to Berto. You can listen to Lopez's brief chat with Fightful in the video above.
