Former Boxing World Champion Zolani Tete Shot & Killed Outside Home

On Friday, August 21st, former boxing world champion Zolani Tete was shot and killed outside his home. He was 38 years old.

The shooting happened in South Africa, and the news of Tete’s murder was relayed by Gayton McKenzie, South Africa’s sports, arts, and culture minister. A 27-year-old woman was in the car with Tete during the shooting. She was hit multiple times and is hospitalized.

Police stated that Tete was waiting for the gate to open at his residence and then was ambushed by two individuals wearing masks.

Tete was at the tail end of his four-year suspension after testing positive for a banned substance. He was preparing for a comeback.
