Jon Fernandez To Headline ShoBox Card In September

Jon Fernandez, one of the top super featherweight prospects in boxing, is set to return to Showtime on an upcoming ShoBox card.

The 22-year-old Fernandez is one of the top prospects in the sport, winning all 16 of his fights with 14 of those wins coming via knockout or stoppage. Fernandez, already the No. 10 super featherweight in the WBC rankings, is already victorious in two fights in 2018, both of which were third-round victories. Fernandez will be fighting a 24-year-old Foster who is sporting a three-fight win streak since his last defeat which was a split decision loss to Rolando Chinea in 2016.

The other two fights rounding out the ShoBox tripleheader are a pair of eight-round fights involving undefeated fighters. In one fight, Irvin Gonzalez Jr., who won the UBF All America super featherweight title in 2016, and Carlos Ramos will meet in a featherweight bout.

The opening fight of the card is a lightweight fight between Wesley Ferrer and Steven Ortiz. This will be Ferrer's first fight in 2018 as he is coming off a draw against unbeaten prospect Will Madera last December. Ortiz will be returning to the ring for the second time this year after his last outing in the ring was a second-round TKO win over Joshua Davis back in January.
