Haney is highly ranked on several governing bodies at lightweight, sitting in at No. 4 in both the WBA and WBC rankings. After the fight, Haney and promoter Eddie Hearn stated that they would want to fight in a title eliminator for the WBC lightweight title.

That wasn't the only knockout on the main card that was streamed on DAZN. Rising heavyweight contenders Michael Hunter and Filip Hrgovic also picked up big knockout wins in separate bouts. On the co-main event, Hrgovic landed a right hand to the side of Gregory Corbin's head one minute into their fight, knocking him out and retaining his WBC International title. Hrgovic picked up his eighth pro win and sixth knockout victory.

Hunter extends his win streak to five fights, all in the heavyweight contention, and remains alive for a potential title opportunity down the road. After the fight, Hunter said he would like to face either unified champion Anthony Joshua or the winner of the eventual WBA "Regular" heavyweight title fight between Manuel Charr and Trevor Bryan, which has a purse bid set for May 27.
