Andre Dirrell (c) vs. Jose Uzcategui: Interim IBF Super Middleweight Title Bout

Round 1: Uzcategui comes out on offense, landing a straight right and then a hard left to Dirrell’s body. Dirrell throws a couple of jabs, but they fail to connect. Dirrell lands a hard left hand. Uzcategui lands a left body jab. Uzcategui continues to throw several combos, starting with a left to the body and followed by a stiff right jab. Dirrell is on the ropes and is constantly getting tagged with several jabs. Dirrell lands a hard left hook to Uzcategui as the round ends.

Round 2: Dirrell lands a right hook near Uzcategui’s back. Dirrell lands a counter right hand upstairs. Uzcategui lands a couple of left jabs and has Dirrell on the ropes. Uzcategui has Dirrell on the ropes, landing a few power punches but Dirrell manages to maneuver his way out of a couple of hard punches upstairs.

Round 5: Uzcategui starts the round by putting a lot of pressure forward to Dirrell. Uzcategui landed a stiff right jab to Dirrell’s jaw. At this point, Uzcategui has the momentum. Dirrell keeps throwing jabs, but it’s not connecting. Dirrell moves forward to try and land an uppercut, but misses as Uzcategui steps back just in time. Dirrell is momentarily backed into a corner where Uzcategui connects on a few punches, but Dirrell gets out of the way quickly. Dirrell lands a couple of jabs, but Uzcategui connects on a stiff right hand.

Round 6: Uzcategui lands a hard right jab. Dirrell proceeds to land several jabs in the first half of the round as Uzcategui continues to land more counter rights. Uzcategui lands a hard left uppercut. Dirrell finally puts pressure on Uzcategui, catching him off-balance. Dirrell continues to land several right jabs to Uzcategui.

Round 8: Uzcategui lands a couple of hard left hooks upstairs and both men exchange punches. Uzcategui throws a couple of shots upstairs but Dirrell dodges them. Dirrell then is pinned to the ropes and Uzcategui relentlessly attacks Dirrell. Dirrell lands a hard left hand out of desperation. Dirrell gets out of the ropes and connects a hard right hand to Uzcategui’s jaw. Dirrell is now trying throw left hooks as Uzcategui focuses on throwing left hands to Dirrell’s body. Uzcategui lands a short right jab and Dirrell lands an uppercut. Uzcategui wins the round at the end with a couple of hard shots to Dirrell’s jaw.

Round 1: Fight starts with Ortiz throwing a couple of right jabs. Wilder connects on a left jab. Both men are just trying to find their range in the early going. Ortiz putting pressure on Wilder early with his jabs. Wilder throws a left jab upstairs. Not a lot of action in the first round.

Round 3: Ortiz pressures Wilder with a few jabs to the body and Wilder is moving back. Ortiz continues to target Wilder’s body with the jab. So far, this has been a chess match, rather than a brawl between two of the sport’s best knockout artists at heavyweights. The crowd is booing at the lack of action. Wilder’s right jab is blocked. The two men move across the ring as there is still not much action to watch. Round ends with the crowd booing at the fight.

Round 4: Ortiz continues to utilize the jab, but Wilder puts together a combination that lands on Ortiz’s head. Wilder lands a right hand and is now getting more confident. Ortiz lands a right jab, Wilder proceeds to taunt Ortiz and the Cuban obliges by throwing a couple of jabs forward. Ortiz connects with a left hand upstairs. Wilder lands a left jab to Ortiz’s jaw. Ortiz lands another combination of punches that end with Ortiz landing a left hook upstairs. Ortiz is still pressuring forward to Wilder and has Wilder pinned to the ropes for a second.

With a spring in his step, Ortiz lands a counter left hand. Wilder lands a good right hand, followed by a left jab. Ortiz blocks a Wilder right uppercut. Ortiz barely lands a left hand with WIlder in the corner. Wilder lands a right hand, then proceeds to knock Ortiz down as the round ends.

Round 6: Ortiz moves forward with the right jab and both men exchange punches. The two men exchange blows, Wilder lands a hard right hand that hurts Ortiz and the action has picked up. Wilder lands a right jab, followed by a left hook to the body. Ortiz then throws a left hook upstairs, but Wilder blocks it. Ortiz connects with a left jab. Ortiz continues to push forward, but Wilder manages to block his shots. Ortiz hurts Wilder with a left hand and Wilder nearly goes down.

Ortiz has Wilder to the ropes as Wilder looks exhausted. Ortiz lands another body shot.
