Carmella Ready To Be More Than A Sidekick

Some fans may be upset Carmella wasn't reunited with Enzo and Cass, but it's no skin off of her nose.

The Smackdown superstar was drafted to the blue brand in July, and will compete for the Smackdown Women's Championship at Backlash. While she was admittedly bummed out by losing her cohorts, she said that she's ready to be more than just a sidekick.

The Elite: We're Getting AEW Back To What It Was Supposed To Be

"It was bittersweet because I love my boys, and being with them was such a blast, we had so much fun for a few years. But I’m ready to be on my own and breakout. I was a cheerleader in the NBA and NFL, on the sidelines, I’ve done that. I’m ready for it to be all about me, in the ring. I’ve been in NXT for almost three years, I trained my butt off to not just be on the sidelines. Now it’s a great opportunity for me to be in the ring, hone my craft and do my thing!" Carmella said to DC101.

Despite being on good terms with both Enzo and Cass, Carmella admitted there was a sense of competition between them since they're on different brands.

“I don’t think any of us would be in this job if we didn’t love competition and the fight and have the desire to be on top. It’s like this extra drive inside of you to want to get your spot and of course we want our show to be better than RAW, so no matter what we’re all going to step up our game and be the best!" she said.
