Chael Sonnen: I'm The Worst Fighter In The World

Chael Sonnen made his Bellator MMA debut in a losing effort to Tito Ortiz at Bellator 170.

For the longtime MMA fighter, the loss to Ortiz proved to be a tough defeat to deal with.

“Oh, Tito is terrible,” Sonnen said on The MMA Hour. “Tito was absolutely terrible. I was in the fight with him and that fight ended and some people said it was a fixed fight, to use that term. When you fight so poorly that some people can’t even imagine you fought that poorly that it has to be fixed, that’s not good. On some hands, it’s funny we can sit here and laugh about it. But that’s how bad it was.”

Sonnen will most likely not have a chance to avenge the loss as Ortiz retired after the bout. Even with the fight now behind him, the fighter still has a lot of hatred for the now retired Ortiz.

“Tito sucks,” Sonnen said. “I mean, Tito is so bad. And when you lose to a guy, then you suck. That’s the way it works, man. I wouldn’t put that guy without putting myself down. Tito is the worst fighter I ever fought and that makes me the worst fighter. And I just didn’t know that about myself.”

Bellator 180 takes place on Saturday, June 24 from Madison Square Garden in New York, New York with Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva headlining. Fightful will be providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
